Fine Silver Maple Leaf Nose Stud

Fine silver maple leaf nose stud, individually handmade in my Lincolnshire studio from 99.9% pure fine silver and recycled sterling silver wire.

Each tiny maple leaf is hand-moulded from precious metal clay and kiln fired to transform the clay into fine silver. It is then carefully soldered onto a sterling silver L-shaped post and finished by hand.

The delicate leaf design has a natural, organic shape, while the oxidised details bring out the texture and give this tiny botanical piece a slightly earthy, rustic feel.

WHAT IS FINE SILVER/SILVER CLAY?

Fine silver is made from precious metal silver clay, which looks and feels like regular sculpting clay but contains fine particles of pure silver mixed with a non-toxic organic binder. It is eco-friendly since the silver particles are recycled silver reclaimed from medical, scientific and communications equipment.

Once the clay is fired in the kiln, the binder burns away, leaving a fine silver piece which is 99.9% pure silver (compared to sterling silver, which is 92.5% pure silver, with the remainder being mainly copper).

Fine silver contains no other metals. It is tarnish resistant and, due to its purity, it is less likely to cause reactions on the skin.
