Oxidised Fine Silver Daisy Necklace - April Birth Flower ~ 20mm

Chain Length

Gorgeous and unique, this pretty pendant features two tiny little silver daisy flowers set on a spiral patterned, teardrop shaped pendant.

The pendant is pure 999 fine silver, handmade using precious metal clay. It is attached to a sterling silver belcher chain with a wire wrapped sterling silver pendant bail and the whole necklace is gently oxidised to highlight the details in the metal. You can choose from two different chain lengths.

Daisy is the birth flower for April so this necklace would make a lovely jewellery gift for anyone born in that month.

DETAILS AND MEASUREMENTS

  • Handmade to order and ready to ship in 3 to 5 working days.
  • Pendant is 999 fine silver and measures 20mm (4/5ths of an inch) long (excluding the bail) and 11mm wide.
  • 925 sterling silver chain - choose either 16 inch or 18 inch.
  • Wire wrapped pendant bail is 925 sterling silver.
  • Necklace will ship in a little Tiny Tree Frog gift box.

The pendant is handmade by me using eco-friendly silver clay (see below for more information about silver clay). The clay is textured and cut to shape and allowed to dry before adding the tiny flowers. The pendant is then sanded, drilled and kiln fired.

After firing, the wire wrapped sterling silver pendant bail is added and the pendant is then oxidised with jeweller's patina to highlight all the detail in the metal. After a final polish, it is added to an oxidised sterling silver chain.

WHAT IS FINE SILVER/SILVER CLAY?

Fine silver is made from precious metal silver clay, which looks and feels like regular sculpting clay but contains fine particles of pure silver mixed with a non-toxic organic binder. It is eco-friendly since the silver particles are recycled silver reclaimed from medical, scientific and communications equipment.

Once the clay is fired in the kiln, the binder burns away leaving a fine silver piece which is 99.9% pure silver (compared to sterling silver which is only 92.5% pure silver, the remainder being mainly copper).

Fine silver contains no other metals. It is tarnish resistant and, due to its purity, it is less likely to cause any reactions on the skin.

Fine silver pieces can be hallmarked at the Assay Office if they weigh more than 7.78 grams. Since my jewellery pieces are below this weight, I choose not to have them hallmarked.
